MANCHESTER AIRPORT (RINGWAY) - HISTORICAL PHOTOS

The airport of Manchester is situated south of the northern English city of Manchester is England's biggest airport outside London. In 2005 22.7 million passengers used the facilities. The Manchester region is the 2nd biggest metropolitan area England's and its region includes further big cities like Liverpool, Blackpool, Chester and Leeds.
There is no other airport in Europe of this size that has such a diverse traffic than Manchester. This may be caused by a whole range of circumstances, but the main point is that none of the big airline alliances dominates the traffic. In Manchester you find a good mixture of all alliances, charter traffic and also a growing number of low cost carriers. Also cargo plays an important role at the airport, as Manchester is home to the largest Asian community in Europe.

There is a further positive thing at Manchester. As one of a few airports in Europe, avaition enthusiasts are not seen as a hazard to aviation. With the construction of the "View Park" an area was built where you can spot the traffic and you also can visit some historical aircrafts. The "View park" became home for one of the seven British Airways Concordes. The Concorde with the registration G-BOAC can there be seen and visited.
