New  Spotter's hill at Exit 4
(01st June 2008)

Due to the construction of a new temporary storage area for ramp equipment to south of the main apron, the perimeter fence there was relocated by about 50 meters. Therefore the old spotter's hill at Exit 4 (Photo position 2) had to be removed. Thanks to the good relations between the spotter community and the Salzburg Airport authority, a new hill could be constructed along the new fence. This hill is now 2,5m high at it's highest point and offers again very nice views across the main apron. Also photos are possible of aircrafts using Exit 4, taxiways L & D and the runway. A special thanks is to the technics department of the SFG around Pork. Dipl.-Ing. Rudolf Lipold and Ing. Peter Galler for their efforts.

Traffic results 2007: More Passengers
(28th January 2008)

After several years of massive growth in passenger numbers, 2007 Salzburg Airport handeled 3,6% more passengers. All together 1 946 422 guests used the facility. The number of scheduled passengers grew by 6,5% to 1,19 million, while charter passengers decreased by 0,4%. Most important news in 2007 was the relaunch of the Salzburg - Zürich connection by Cirrus Airlines.

If this volume of passengers can be maintained in 2008 must be questioned, as many low cost links to the UK and Germany are cancelled for this summer season. Also there is a much lower volume of seasonal scheduled flights during this winter compared to last winter.

The number of flights increased by 1,9% to 21.918. The sum of the MTOW also increased by 3,7% to 614.991 tons.
